Dons Trust

A date has been set for the public meeting for a proposed Wimbledon Supporters Trust.

Thursday 25 October 2001 19:30 Wimbledon Community Centre 23 St George's Road Wimbledon. See Map for exact location

This initiative is independent of the Club and WISA.
It is hoped that the response will be good and that a launch meeting involving the Supporters' Direct team will take place if not before the end of the year certainly in the very early part of the new year.

You are urged to attend and to please tell friends, neighbours and colleagues - this is a public meeting.

Brian Lomax the Chair of Supporters Direct "what is happening through the movement of supporters forming trusts is nothing less than a sea change in the way the game is being run and relates to its supporters. The future of the game depends on this relationship, and the moral case for a Supporters Trust actively involved in running a football club is paralleled by the finances of the modern game that make an unanswerable argument for supporter participation and ownership.

Refering to Chesterfield he said "It's not ultimately about ownership, but more stewardship - shepherding, nurturing and guiding an institution that ultimately belongs to the entire community rather than any individual or consortium."

Be there
