WISA EGM 04/12/2001

Minutes of Emergency General Meeting

Tuesday, 4th December, 2001 Wimbledon Community Centre, St. George's Road, Wimbledon

1. Apologies for absence
Apologies were received from Louise Carton-Kelly, Nicole Hammond, Paul Hawkey, Mags Hutchinson, Rupert Jeffery, John Lloyd and Richard McGregor.

2. Emergency Motion
The purpose of the meeting was to approve the following motion, proposed by Kevin Rye:

An arbitration tribunal is currently considering Wimbledon Football Club's dispute with the Football League over WFC's desire to kill the club and take its Football League place to Milton Keynes. This tribunal has the power to make any award it sees fit.

WISA is assisting the Football League in preparing its case to put before the tribunal. This meeting notes the healthy bank balance currently enjoyed by WISA, donated by members and other fans to further our campaign. Given the possible finality to the tribunal's decision, this meeting hereby instructs the WISA General Committee to do everything it can to support the Football League's argument in front of the tribunal and to ensure the correct result for Wimbledon fans and for football in general.

In order to support this activity, this meeting authorises the expenditure of up to £15,000 by the WISA General Committee on professional advice and support, publicity, and any other items intended to support the current campaign and influence the arbitration panel.

All spending should be reviewed at the OGM to be held in January 2002.

In answer to a question asking how it was proposed the money be spent, Kris explained that the intention was to do everything possible to support the Football League's (FL) case to the arbitration panel. By necessity, details cannot be disclosed but a form of words have been approved by the lawyers acting for the FL and WISA's lawyers:

The Football League is currently preparing a response to Wimbledon Football Club's submission to the FA arbitration panel. WISA is providing assistance to The Football League in this regard. We understand that the FA arbitration panel will hear the case in the New Year. As the arbitration procedure is confidential between the parties, WISA (who are not a party) cannot make any further public statements in this regard. However, supporters can rest assured that all the relevant information WISA possesses will be made available to the Football League as part of this process.

The motion was put to a vote and was carried unanimously
