Dons Trust Elections - Questionnaire 2010

(main questionnaire index)

Q Why do you believe you can put your views into practice and deliver on any promises you make? How much time do you have to devote to Trust matters?

David Hall My main promise is to serve the DT members to the best of my ability using wise judgement and in the best interests of AFC Wimbledon. On key decisions such as the future ownership and location of the club I will seek to ensure that all members get an opportunity to vote and we continue to consult fully with other stakeholders. I will devote as much time as might be allowed given my work, family and other commitments including attendance at as many DT Board and relevant subcommittees / working groups as possible. My attendance at Wandle Housing Association where I was voluntary Chair of Finance and Development was around 90% over the 12 years I was on the Board.

Mark Davis I'm confident that I can be effective on the Board because I know how it operates, having served on it in the past. In a work context, I'm pretty accustomed to sitting on various committees whose role is to provide oversight of particular projects by asking the right questions.
Sitting on the Board shouldn't be hugely time consuming - it involves reading (and thinking about) papers in advance of Board meetings and turning up to monthly meetings (plus a few further meetings, SGMs, etc). No doubt there's some email traffic as well, but that can be fitted around other things.
I run the fundraising group already. I'm not going to take on loads of additional responsibilities, if I'm appointed to the Board, so long as I continue to hold that fundraising role. I'm amenable to that portfolio being shifted or shared if my participation in the DTB places a greater time demand than I anticipate.

Nicole Hammond I haven't made any drastic promises. I'm just interested in serving on the board and upholding what I see as the founding principles of the club, I don't have any pre-conceptions on how I would fit in if elected. I work full time; I can spare a few hours per week for the Trust.

Kate Terriere I believe the Board is there to represent the fans but also as a fan myself I would seek to put my views forward for discussion. Ultimately I would like to deliver on those views as long as I felt that they were in the best interests of the club i.e. not over-committing financially, surrendering control etc. I don't think I can really make any promises other than that I promise to be fully committed to the Board and work hard to achieve the success the club deserves. My job is fairly demanding but I do not have any other commitments and I am confident that I will have the necessary time to devote to the Trust.

Kris Stewart My ability to deliver on my manifesto will depend not only on my own time and effort, but also on the nature of the rest of the board which is elected and those already in place. I am committed to pursuing the issues I have raised, and to ensuring that members know what I have and haven't done, so that they can judge me at the end of my term. I don't think I can, or should, promise any more than that.
Apart from my 9-5 job, I have as much time as I want to allocate to board duties. Currently that amounts to (on average) a few hours a week, and I don't see any reason that should change markedly, or become a problem for me.

Lee Willett Simply because I passionately believe that the issue of returning home is the most fundamental issue the club faces.

Stephen Cooles Firstly I would only promise to deliver something if I believed I could do so. Therefore I am happy to promise that if you vote for me, I will stick to my principals and beliefs and represent these faithfully at Board meetings. I have gone into more detail

Tom Adam I don’t usually blow my own trumpet but I believe I can do it because I’ve been doing it for several years now.
I can continue to devote enough time to be an active Board Member and lead the Stadium WG as my business only occupies a small part of my day. Both Stadium WG and Trust Board activities shouldn’t be too time consuming anyway because the major work is delegated to very talented people, i.e. Management Committee and the SWG members. I am good at delegating!

Simon Bath Firstly I work a standard 40 hour week, anytime outside of that I will have to dedicate

David Growns I have only promised on things I know I can deliver (such as occupying the Trust Table mentioned in the previous question). The rest of it is my views, opinions, experience and ideas. I will be constantly checking those opinions with the membership and I intend to put them on the agenda. I know the Board welcomes new ideas and I don't see that as an issue - come and find me at the Dons Trust table in a couple of months and ask me !

Damian Woodward I refer back to question 3 and can show how in my professional career how I have delivered. I never make promises I can’t keep, I work in a collaborative way to minimise politics and ensure a clear and agreed agenda with whomever I am working with, which deliver robust results and happy people. It may sound simple and obvious, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people try and follow a different path. Time wise my commitment is to make at all DTB meetings and general meetings. Once we have clear objectives I will then see if my I can add elsewhere again, but I am clear that my main goal is to influence on the DTB and to try and ensure at a strategic level we are at least heading in the right direction.

Christopher Gibbs I've spent 3 years thinking about doing this and I now have enough time. I wouldn't be standing if I didn't think I could make a real contribution.
