Dons Trust Elections - Questionnaire 2010

(main questionnaire index)

Q What personal qualities (other than professional skills, and a capacity for hard work) do you have that the Dons Trust Board needs?

David Hall My work with clients and on the various diverse committees that I have stood on previously has taught me to exercise a range of skills. I like to think I am confident and assertive without being arrogant, passionate without being aggressive, cautious without impeding progress. Where I have acted as Chair previously I have sought to build consensus without losing sight of key objectives. It's a difficult balancing act to play! I'm also imaginative, enthusiastic and prepared to challenge conventional wisdoms where appropriate.

Mark Davis I'll stick with what I said in my manifesto on this:
" An ability to work with a wide range of people and to respect others' views;
" An ability to analyse complex situations and to look at both sides of an argument;
" I am accustomed to getting things done on committees (we do committees, in the civil service!);
" Familiarity with the financial side of things, from a prior career in banking;
" I understand how the DT works;
" Oh, and I love our club!

Nicole Hammond From experience on the WISA committee (and others) I think I have a better than average feeling for being an elected representative and where my responsibilities lie.

Kate Terriere I believe I have the necessary passion and commitment that being a Board member requires. I am a good listener, approachable and friendly. I am also a problem solver - I can work through issues in a logical and reasoned manner, I like to pay attention to detail and am conscientious.

Kris Stewart I'm experienced in talking to people from different backgrounds and with different interests. I'm a good listener. I'm enthusiastic and happy to take the lead in

Lee Willett My principle desire is to ensure that the fans are fully appraised - as much as they can be publicly about something as sensitive as the ground developments - so I would ensure that there is a clear and regular line of communication to the fans about what is going on in relation to the ground. Thus, my ability to talk clearly and frankly to people will be very important.

Stephen Cooles I am very organised, and believe that I can balance strategic thought with practical action. I am diplomatic and I good at achieving group consensus. I enjoy seeing projects through from inception to finish. All of these qualities I believe would be of use to the Board.

Tom Adam · Much as I admire the skills of the Management Committee they need to be asked difficult questions and I ask them and then politely ask them again if the matter isn’t resolved in good time. If I get a negative reaction, as has occasionally happened, I am more determined than ever to ask until I get an answer. I will not be put off by bluster and vague replies
· I have massive experience of business, projects, and how to conduct Board business, accumulated over the years in a range of companies.
· I provide continuity. There are certain to be at least two new Board members after this election. Changes and new ideas are good things however total change at such a critical time in the Board’s work isn’t a good idea and I will provide the necessary continuity and depth of knowledge of key issues, especially in one of the most important areas – the search for realistic options for a new stadium in Wimbledon.

Simon Bath A great ability to think outside of the box, combined with a youthful and contemporary outlook, something that is not currently represented.

David Growns I have an ability to get on with other people but also fight my corner for what I believe in, to break problems down so they can be better understood, a sense of confidentiality and a sense of humour. I am passionate about this club and have an inherent need to do the right thing. I bang on about communication until I bore people. Finally, I'm a fresh face in the boardroom - which is always a good thing.

Damian Woodward I’m a very driven person, and when I’ve set my sights on something I go for it. I’ve led all sorts of things from my youth (Scouts etc) to adulthood (President Old Wimbledonians FC) and I’d like to think it’s because people see me as someone who is engaging, listens well, conducts reasoned argument and then acts with conviction. I get the impression that the DTB has become a rubber stamp for the PLC and therefore I think my qualities, both personal and professional will enable me to rightly challenge this balance.

Christopher Gibbs DT members should expect its board to represent them, reflect their views and oversee the delivery of the club's aims. If elected I can presume that I reflect the views of a good portion of the membership. That so, I am fair-minded and trustworthy. I am prepared to argue a point forcefully but will always listen and respond to a logical and well-reasoned position. I believe that there are always better ways to do things and would seek to improve what we do in all areas.
