| 17 - Should Trust members have the right to propose motions at the AGM and other general meetings? |
| Tom Adam |
The right to propose motions at such meeting would tend be unmanageable and in fairness to all members could not be taken until the next meeting. The right to propose motions in anticipation of such meetings would be a more practical approach and providing there is sufficient support including DT board members and adequate notice can be given to all members to allow all members opportunity to review and vote on the issue, then it should be possible. |
| Lou Carton-Kelly |
Absolutely. |
| Sarah Colesell |
No response received. |
| David Cox |
YES, I would hope this will be addressed at the upcoming AGM by way of a recommendation proposed by the L & C Group. |
| Colin Dench |
Yes, and I think this is likely to be a proposal for a vote at the AGM, provided the Dons Trust Board approve the recommendation from the Legal and Constitutional Working Group. |
| Ray Downham |
Yes, of course. Every member has the same rights. The L & C working group, in conjunction with some members are currently developing resolutions, which we hope to present at this year's AGM which would allow such. would like to think that |
| Anne Eames |
Yes - everybody should be entitled to their say. |
| Steve Elson |
Yes. |
| Pat Fotheringham |
Yes. |
| Andrew Goodwin |
Yes – I think the Trust should encourage member involvement in the running of the Trust, and preventing them from doing so would arguably go against our democratic principles. |
| Jacki Harvie |
Yes |
| Ivor Heller |
Yes |
| Nigel Higgs |
Yes, but there needs to be a due process that permits proper review and the ability of the Board to respond effectively. |
| Marc Jones |
Yes, they should, with due notice given to the board and the membership. |
| Dennis Lowndes |
Yes, its their Club and future we are playing with. |
| Luke Mackenzie |
Yes if motions are submitted before hand. Amendments can of course be made during the meeting |
| Michael O'Shaughnessy |
Yes but if the motion is important then it should be ratified by a postal vote of all the members |
| Chris Philips |
Yes. |
| Erik Samuelson |
Yes, but only with reasonable notice so that members can't be “ambushed” at the meeting. (The current constitution is such a mess that only 20 members are needed to comprise a quorum at such a meeting. That needs fixing.) |
| Ron Trayhorn |
In principle I would say yes, but with such a large membership there would have to be some control to ensure that we would actually finish meetings.
