NO TO GAM£ 39
Following an unprecedented response from the football fans of
England and Wales to Premier League plans for an extra match
to be played abroad, the Football Supporters’ Federation today
announced the NO TO GAM£ 39 campaign.
In the 24 hours since the Premier League announced its plan for a
money-spinning extra round of fixtures to be played abroad, fans from
all over England and Wales have flocked to the FSF website
www.fsf.org.uk to express their fury at these outrageous proposals by
signing our on-line petition.
FSF Head of Policy, Steven Powell, an Arsenal fan, said: “Yet again,
those running our national game have displayed a complete disregard
for the interests of those without whom there would be no show – the
fans themselves. They’ve simply gone too far, and the time has arrived
for football supporters to stand up and be counted.”
The Football Supporters’ Federation’s NO TO GAM£ 39 campaign will
co-ordinate strong, swift and decisive action at both national and local
levels, designed to leave Premier League Chairmen in no doubt that
the vast majority of fans have finally had enough.
The FSF’s Mark Longden, a Manchester United supporter, added “More
than 4,000 fans have already voted in our online poll – and a massive
94% of them are completely opposed to the Premiers League’s
proposals.
The fight back starts here – it’s time for us to reclaim our game from
those intent on pimping it out just to boost their already burgeoning
bank balances.”
The campaign will include local action at every Premiership club,
inviting supporters of all teams to unite under the banner NO TO
