Walk For Wimbledon III

Walk for Wimbledon - Third Time Around

We liked it so much we're doing it again!

Yes, Walk for Wimbledon III will take place on Saturday, 31st March, before
our home game against Slough Town FC.

This event is fast becoming an institution for AFC Wimbledon fans. In 2001,
at the start of the campaign against the move to Milton Keynes, WISA
organised a walk from Plough Lane to Selhurst Park. Two years ago, in 2005,
the Dons Trust arranged a walk from Plough Lane to Kingsmeadow.

This year, the Dons Trust is asking you to join in what promises to be
another memorable walk. Once again, weıll be affirming our ties to the
community of Wimbledon, raising money for the Trust, and hopefully having
fun with fellow Dons fans. And that includes Dickie Guy, legendary Wimbledon
goalkeeper and now AFC Wimbledonıs president, as well as the Mayor of
Merton.

The walk starts at our spiritual home, Plough Lane, at
10 a.m. on the Saturday morning. The seven-mile route will take us through
Wimbledon High Street and past Wimbledon Community Centre. This is where a
packed WISA meeting in May 2002 voted to set up AFC Wimbledon, and where
regular WISA meetings are still held. We then walk through Raynes Park and
New Malden Town Centre, finishing at Kingsmeadow.

This should be a fun day so banners and flags, fancy dress and of course
yellow and blue will all be welcome, as we enjoy a spring morning stroll to
Kingsmeadow. And why not persuade your friends and family to walk for
Wimbledon too?

You can do the walk simply by paying a £10 non-refundable deposit to the
Dons Trust. However, if you do raise sponsorship money for the Trust, the
£10 will be deducted. And to help you raise sponsorship as widely as
possible, you can choose to donate a proportion of the money you raise (we
suggest 25%) to the Mayor of Mertonıs two local charities, Faith in Action
Merton Homeless Project, and the Merton and Morden Guild of Social Service.

If you would like to sponsor Dickie, take part in the walk or get more
information, please contact the club on 020 8547 3528 or e-mail walk@thedonstrust.org. More details will also be
appearing on www.afcwimbledon.co.uk

We also need volunteers to be road marshals or to carry out leafleting or
registration. So if you can offer help, please contact us at the above
addresses.

We hope to see many of you on the 31st!
